Nguyen Thanh Binh

“Three Workers” is a timeless portrait from Vietnamese every day life.  Here the three workers are taking a tea break, perhaps during lunch.  Squatting on typical low set stools, their faces are sans details, only suggesting their mood or conversations.

Details do not seem to matter so much for Binh.   Famous for his delicate and Zen like renderings of the human figure, he relates his style more to music than to any scholarly art technique.  His use of browns, taupe and the occasional off white form an expansive background for his figures, often captured in a social setting or a solitary moment of contemplation.

As one of Vietnam’s most successful and popular artists, Binh has exhibited widely both locally and abroad including Japan, Hong Kong, France, Britain and the USA.
