Estele Pereda

j0115834.gif (185 bytes) Main Gallery

“I feel a demand to look for the mysteries of our origins, where past and present meet....and if in my life as a painter I can stir just one person and change their conscience, I will consider my mission fulfilled.”

Pereda draws from the universes of memory- from the memory of traditions that give way to her most subtle feelings and senses.  Hers is a world that rotates and which is stamped with footprints, of beings that are at the same time miniscule yet strong.  Her paintings enlighten those who immerse in its rich pigmentation of grays, ocres, and subtle yellows.

Pereda has recently exhibited in Buenos Aires, New York and the Bay Area.  Her works are in the collections of the Museo de Arte Contemporano, Buenos Aires, University of Texas, Austin and the Argentine Embassy, Washington, D.C.
