Gabriel Navar

“I consider my artistic expressions a manifestation of my creative rejoicing.”

Navar investigates themes through painting such as identity, memory, cultural nourishment, dreams and celebration.  Within these archetypes he is often drawn to aspects of relationships (within ourselves as well as between people and with the environment- urban, natural and cosmic.)  In the spirit of being ecologically aware, he also tends to use recycled or found objects such as doors, windows, headboards, found paper and existing paintings as his canvases.  For Navar art is an essential source of his inner energy.  It serves as a gateway into a festive state of peace, reflection and education.

Navar has exhibited widely in California including the Mission Cultural Center, Vorpal Gallery and the Richmond Art Center.  He has also been featured in local and national newspapers including the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, and Artweek.
