William Scott is self-taught, and able to render his subjects with great
accuracy and meticulous detail. Initially his work consisted primarily of drawings,
paintings and models of the low-income housing developments at Bayview, San Francisco,
where he still lives. His tenements are precisely articulated, their stairways, doors,
rooms and boarded up windows constructed to scale without measurement or reference to
outside sources. William's work also focuses on a long-standing obsession with and
reverence for the quintessential African American female beauty, as part of a greater
quest for the elusive "normal life" of everyday citizens. His works have been
featured at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD.
